Giddapahar
Giddapahar Tea Estate is located in Kurseong, the land of white orchid. Kurseong is close to the City of Darjeeling. The estate produces 67,000 Lbs of quality tea a year.
Upper Fagu
Upper Fagu tea estates established in the 1800s are located in the Kalimpong area. A 103-hectare garden produces one of the best first flushes of orthodox Darjeeling tea.
Jungpana Tea Estate
Jungpana Tea Estate is located in one of the most difficult terrains in the Darjeeling hills which is connected through snaking roads accessible only on foot. A good 350 steep steps and onto the wooden foot bridge across the river Changey Khola (rivulet/stream) in local language, leads to the garden factory. It is around 12 km from Kurseong in a rather remote and isolated place, not accessible by any motorable road.
Makaibari Tea Estate
Makaibari, where makai=maize, bari=land means the land of maize in local language. It is located in the slopes of Kurseong, about less than a kilometer from the town at an altitude of 1500 meters above the sea level. The estate covers six ridges and plantation takes place in 120 hectares out of a total of 670. Makaibari was the first garden to be certified for trade in the world. It was one of the first few to be awarded fair trade certifications. In 1988 it was the first garden to be awarded/ certified as the fully organic tea garden.
Makaibari produces around 220,000 Lbs tea annually.
North Tukvar Tea Estate
Established in 1852, it was one of the first tea gardens during the British period. Started on an experimental basis, it started producing commercially in 1856. It is 16 km from Darjeeling and 7 km from Jorethang.
Out of the total area of 195 hectares, tea plantations cover 187 hectares.
It is located at an altitude of 1,500 to 2,800 feet (460 to 850 m).North Tukvar Tea Estate produces one of the best quality first flush Darjeeling tea.
Niroulla Tea Estate
Located in Chotta Poobong Busty, Darjeeling, Niroulla Estate
is presently a micro tea processing unit of organic Darjeeling tea initiated to deliver quality and healthy orthodox tea to tea lovers looking for the right blend of taste and health.
Most of the raw tea leaves are bought directly from more than 50 indigenous farmers in Darjeeling, part of the revenue earned by the company goes directly to supporting and encouraging farmers.
Oaks Tea Estate
Oaks Tea Estate is 100% Organic and produces outstanding Darjeeling tea every year. Their second flush is particularly good. The tea has a mild woody character and is complemented by a fruity sweet flavour. It’s ideal afternoon tea.
Risherhaat Tea Estate
Risherhaat Tea Estate was known as Tsering Bagan in its early history because of the predominance of Tserings (a Tibetan group) in the area British planters established a tea garden in the place in the 1900s. It was later renamed Risherhaat meaning ‘home of holy sages’. Risherhaat Tea Garden annually produces over 180 tons of certified bio-organic teas. It is famous for its second flush muscatel flavor.
Okayti Tea Estate
Rangdoo was the original name of this tea estate. It was planted by the British planters in the 1870s. The tea produced at Rangdoo had a distinctive taste because of the soil and agro-climatic conditions. It soon earned the reputation of being the only ‘’Okay tea’’. So powerful was the impact of the market feed-back that the tea garden was renamed Okayti Tea Estate. The tea factory was built in 1888
Ringtong Tea Estate
On slopes of the Sonada valley, established in 1865, it is one of the oldest tea gardens in Darjeeling. Being one of the oldest gardens the bushes belong to China Cultivar. The tea is refreshing in its flavor profile. The deep copper-red cup impresses with intense malt and muscatel notes, complemented by summer fruits and balanced with a hint of honey and nuts, lending the tea a pleasant sweetness.
Sourenee Tea Estate
Sourenee Tea Estate is located in the Mirik Valley of Darjeeling in West Bengal, India 12. It is spread across an area of 137 hectares at altitudes ranging between 2,500 ft upto 5,000 ft 3. The estate produces high-quality Darjeeling tea, organic Darjeeling tea, bio-organic Darjeeling tea, 100% bio-organic black Darjeeling tea.
