Our story started in October 2023… Hoping to be the reliable source for fresh Darjeeling Tea of the highest grade. First and Second flush. A few Single Estates, to begin with.
We started FineIndiaTea since we love Darjeeling Tea. All of the complexity of aroma, color, texture, light body, floral aroma, and fruity taste, with a distinct muscatel flavor and the “musky sweetness”.
Growing up in India, we knew good tea, bhalo-cha, to be Darjeeling, the champagne of teas.
The Camellia sinensis plant or the tea plant, was brought to India by the East India Company, one of its rare beneficial gifts of colonialism. Essentially to counter the Chinese monopoly of tea.
The plant grows well at elevations of 3,000-6,500 feet – that’s why the Darjeeling district! It is handpicked by skilled workers, who select only the finest buds and leaves, ensuring a high-quality tea with fewer broken leaves and dust.
The first flush or the second flush, or in other words, the early harvest and the second harvest. There is also the autumn harvest but we don’t carry it. Each harvest has its nuance in taste aroma and bouquet. We will chat more about it in the coming posts.
Once harvested, the leaves are processed with varying degrees of oxidation, depending on the flush or harvest season, resulting in different types of Darjeeling tea: black, green, white, or oolong. We offer the black tea of Darjeeling.

We would like you to enjoy the tea; brewed to a beautiful gold or amber and drink it as it is. Or if the tea is full bodied add tiny bits of sugar and milk! Either way, to drink it is to love it. Darjeeling the champagne of teas.
